The University of Idaho Esports Program is a competitive gaming initiative supporting varsity, JV, and club-level teams. We provide opportunities for students to compete, improve, and connect through organized esports competition.
Our program is open to all skill levels of undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled at the University of Idaho — from beginners to experienced players.
To join one of our esports teams, you’ll need to participate in tryouts conducted by each team’s coaching staff.
If you’d like more information, join our Discord server using the link in the site menu. You can ask general questions in the #general channel or direct message “Spock” in the server.
Expectations for Players
Our varsity teams have dedicated coaching staff who provide guidance and support to help players reach their full potential.
As a student-athlete, you must maintain satisfactory academic standing to remain eligible to compete. For varsity players, the GPA requirement is 2.5, though probationary exceptions can be made.
We offer support in the form of scholarships (based on availability), team jerseys and other merchandise, priority access to lab equipment, and travel opportunities for varsity players. Expectations are higher for varsity athletes, including regular practice, VOD review, and active team engagement.
JV teams are expected to attend scheduled matches, while practices and other activities are optional and organized at each team’s discretion. Jerseys may also be provided for JV players.

Other Program Benefits
Our dedicated esports lab, located in the Pitman Center basement, is equipped with top-of-the-line gaming hardware.
